Things to do

Talgarth and beyond

Facing Mynydd Troed, Tegfan Garden Suite is located within the Talgarth Conservation Area and is situated 1.5 miles from Bronllys Castle and it’s just a short walk to Pwll-y-Wrach Nature Reserve, with a 30ft waterfall and pond known as Pwll-y-Wrach the Witches Pond.

From adventurous outdoor pursuits including mountain climbing, canoeing, cycling, gliding, horse riding, to fishing, gentle walks and bird watching. There is something here for everyone. You can even enjoy a round or two at our local golf courses Cradoc and Brecon or our completely private mini golf just next door!

Talgarth is a small traditional market town where the little rivers Enig and Ellywe flow from the Black Mountains through Talgarth and onwards towards the River Wye some miles distant. Since restoration in 2011 you can visit and tour Talgarth Mill, a fully working 18th Century flour mill.

The local area offers endless options for being at one with nature. Keen walkers can set off from the door and walk to Llangorse lake (the largest natural lake in Wales). Alternatively explore Dan-yr-Ogof caves, climb the summit of southern Britain's highest mountain Pen-Y-Fan, embrace the history of 11th century Llanthony Priory or brave The Big Pit at the Blaenavon World Heritage Site.

Brecon is just a 15-minute drive with regular farmers markets and local places of interest and culture, including the Grade 1 listed Brecon Cathedral. Also in Brecon is Theatr Brycheiniog, situated on the banks of the canal and offering a wide variety of shows. Main annual events include The Brecon Jazz Festival and Brecon Show both in August. Brecon is the starting/end point of the Monmouthshire & Brecon Canal, with canal boat cruises or gentle tow path walks. Brecon has a proud military history and is host to the the South Wales Borderer’s museum, famous for its Zulu war room.

If food is your passion we have a huge choice of gastro pubs, from fine dining to stunning picnic sites, it’s all there on the doorstep.

But if you want bespoke home-cooking just ask. Owner Helen is the hostess with the mostess and looks forward to welcoming you to Tegfan Garden Suite, the stunning self-catering in Bannau Brycheiniog, the Brecon Beacons National Park.
